A wonderful way to get into Yoga or get back into it. Learn about the basics and what's possible: Awaken the awareness and quiet the mind through breathing, get to learn and practice classic asanas and experience the power of relaxation in savasana.
Think less, breath more and accept the moment.
For those who would like to practice in an intermediate Hatha Yoga setting. In the flow class we join the asanas together a bit more fluent and get to learn some deeper variations of asanas. We learn about the bandhas (energy locks) and practice different pranayamas.
Recommended for yogis who have practice experience.
with 30 minutes of meditation (Friday evening at 6 p.m.)
This Hatha Yoga class is based on the tradition of Swami Satyananda and Swami Sivananda, influenced by the Yoga practices of the Tibetan and Indian monks. You will learn how to direct Prana (life force) and Kundalini (energy) into the higher centers of conciousness. There will be very dynamic sequences as well as very still and calm asanas complementing each other. Our goal is to find stillness in all the postures and uplift the energies.
The class is completed with Pranayama and 30 minutes Meditation.
In this lesson we learn the basic movements needed for the Vinyasa practice. Strength and flexibility is equally built, attained to gain better overall physical balance. We will become familiar with the two classical "Ashtanga Yoga Sun Salutations" (Surya Namaskar) that are used to create the flow in this particular style. Vinyasa Yoga is a vital and physically challenging style of Yoga that promotes overall fitness. You build up stamina while gaining control and coordination. You will get stronger abdominals, legs and back muscles as well as an improved tonus in arms and shoulders. In each session you will be practicing a balanced amount of forward bends, balancing postures, twists as well as inversions and backbends.
Each class begins with a short meditation and various breathing techniques to enhance mental focus and build better lung capacity, and ends with a deep relaxation (savasana).
You will leave feeling uplifted and completely refreshed and renewed. In time your mental calmness will improve and you can feel emotionally balanced and happy.
In this class we build on the basics we have learned during the beginners classes. Sequences become more challenging and you are working on more advanced balancing poses, deeper backbends and longer held inversions. You can dive deeper into your understanding of the body and its energy flow. This class requires the basic know-how learned in the beginners lesson in order to keep your body safe practicing Vinyasa style.
This lesson is more playful then the beginners classes and you can explore more variety in the movement.
This is the most intense lesson we offer at Planet Yoga and is only suitable for the experienced practitioner. The individual is invited to work on very specific postures that provide the biggest challenge to them. Strength and dynamic is our focus, as we work on more refining the poses using props such as chairs and belts. More intensified breathing techniques are explored which requires a clearer mental focus.
This class is fun and playful but takes the student to a new level in their existing practice.
This very specific class offers you the chance to go into more technical details during your asana practice. It does not flow as much as the other Vinyasa classes. Its main goal is to enhance your understanding of correct and healthy alignment in the body. We will occasionally stop to take certain poses apart and look at their essence.
The postures are kept fairly basic in this class, but we will go very deeply into them and hold them for longer periods of time. It works on stamina and endurance and will provide a perfect foundation for deep meditation and pranayama.
Yin Yoga is the most nurturing and relaxing type of Yoga offered at Planet Yoga. It is practiced with completely relaxed muscles. Yin Yoga relaxes deeply within the connective tissues and the bone structure. While the nervous system is calmed and the cardiovascular system is rejuvenated and balanced you will be diving into a space of deepest relaxation. This type of Yoga is suitable for anybody, even those that want to get into a very gentle practice. You will learn to breathe very deeply and therefore enable yourself to relax and slow down all external distractions. Retrieve into a space of deepest peace and relaxation. Yin Yoga is very suitable for all athletes, since it complements any Yang type (strenuous workout) exercises.
Everybody is welcome in Yin Yoga.
This lesson combines the two contrary Yoga styles Vinyasa and Yin Yoga into a deep and thorough workout. The first hour is focusing on alignment and strength while working on standing asana as well as sun salutations. The last 30 minutes are dedicated to slow, deep stretching in Yin postures that will reach into connective tissue as well as down to the bone structure.
Each class ends with a meditation leaving you refreshed and ready to enter your day peacefully.
A special class is not offered at the moment.
In this class we will sit in silent meditation for 20 minutes, learning the foundation key tools for meditating properly. Following the sitting we will then practice a series of pranayama to open, strengthen and cleanse the lungs.
